Settings and Making Changes

Here are the default settings and instructions to how to adjust them.

Auto-Start File Path: /home/pi/.config/autostart

Screen Timeout: Off

  • The screen will continuously be active forever

    • To change:

    • xset s “insert number of seconds"

Mouse Timeout: 30 seconds

  • The mouse will hide itself after 30 seconds of inactivity

    o To change:

    o Head to /home/pi/.config/autostart/mouse

    o Change the value 30 to the number of seconds desired

Language: English

  • Default language is English

    o To change:

    o sudo raspi-config

    o Select “Localisation Options”

    o Select the languages preferred using the space bar

    o OR sudo nano /etc/default/locale and directly change from there

Auto-Start Applications

  • SmartScreen will run automatically and display the user interface

  • Node-Red will run automatically in the background

    o To change:

    o Head to /home/pi/.config/autostart/node-red

    o Comment out the exec line for any applications to deactivate the auto-start feature

    o Head to node-red-browser to uncomment the exec line to auto-start the UI browser

  • MQTT will run automatically in the background

    o To change:

    o Head to /home/pi/.config/autostart/mqtt

    o Comment out the exec line to deactivate the auto-start feature

Host Name

  • Default host name is “eipi”

    o To change:

    o sudo nano /etc/hostname and insert your preferred hostname

    o sudo nano /etc/hosts and insert your preferred hostname as well

Password

  • Default password is “0277134800”

    o To change:

    o sudo raspi-config and select “Change User Password”

Username

  • Default username is “jujue”

    o To change:

    o sudo passwd root

    o Enter the desired password for the superuser

    o Logout of the current user and log back in as root

    o usermod -l newname pi

    o If there are processes currently being run, use pgrep -U username|xargs kill -9
